I am taking a hiatus from blogging. The posts I now add will be unedited and unpolished, please forgive me. I am using this platform as a storage place for interesting things. I am currently focusing on editing wikipedia articles on contemporary art instead. I encourage you to do the same and to follow still very active blogs like hyperallergic, c-monster, bldgblog, and more. thanks you.

Triumph of the City by Edward Glaeser

This book, written by Edward Glaeser in 2011, explains why the city is our greatest invention.  As a new resident of New York City, hailing from a mid-western city of 30,000; this book offered great insight into myths I was brought up believing, and re-affirmed all the reasons why I came to NYC. This book is one interesting fact after another, a fast read, and will never let you think about cities in the same way. I recommend it to everyone.

  1. Yeah I remember things people from my family said about my visiting there. They had NO idea what they were talking about. Other than what they had heard from tv news. I remember my first trip in 2004 and feeling elated about being there. I felt more comfortable walking down in Tribeca at midnight than I do around here.
