I am taking a hiatus from blogging. The posts I now add will be unedited and unpolished, please forgive me. I am using this platform as a storage place for interesting things. I am currently focusing on editing wikipedia articles on contemporary art instead. I encourage you to do the same and to follow still very active blogs like hyperallergic, c-monster, bldgblog, and more. thanks you.

An introduction

My name is Jessica, and I'm a studio art and English writing double major currently in the midst of the cornfields of rural Indiana — a place where covered bridges are the main attraction, and Wal-mart is a symbol of pride for the residents. It's a totally unexpected location to learn about and make art, I'll admit, but I've managed to get some really great experiences out here. I've interned at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, worked with Tara Donovan to install her solo show there, and helped construct a piece for Spencer Finch. I'm also the assistant director of the Low Road Gallery in Greencastle, IN. We've brought in artists from all over the country to show there. I've been studying photography here for the past three years, and hope to pursue it as a career post-graduation.

So for the month of October, I'm going to help Ben with this blog. As the trees surrounding our country roads begin to turn red and yellow, I'm going to post about regional, national, and international artists, events, and ideas. I'm really excited, and I hope you guys are too.

Check out the gallery I work at here.
And take a look at my own blog here.

Photo by me — I left the film soaking in water for three days before developing.
