I am taking a hiatus from blogging. The posts I now add will be unedited and unpolished, please forgive me. I am using this platform as a storage place for interesting things. I am currently focusing on editing wikipedia articles on contemporary art instead. I encourage you to do the same and to follow still very active blogs like hyperallergic, c-monster, bldgblog, and more. thanks you.

BEAT Nite

Again, I have copied some information about BEAT Nite from here. I know I will be checking out Fortress of Solitude and Curbs and Stoops (see last post)

Bushwick Art Spaces Stay Open Late
Friday, February 18, 6-10PM
BUSHWICK, BROOKLYN—Jason Andrew + Norte Maar bring back the late night with the fifth installment of BEAT NITE: Bushwick Art Spaces Stay Open Late, Friday, February 18, 6-10PM. This bi-annual night is half art stroll, half bar crawl, where selected art spaces from the legit galleries to the DIY apartment spaces stay open late for each other and the public welcoming the public to see real art in real time, one night only. Each of the ten spaces will host new art and offer true neighborhood hospitality in the form of drinks and music in what has become the signature party of all parties with art above all else. This episode of BEAT NITE is sponsored by HYPERALLERGIC.COM. Participating art spaces include among others: English Kills, Centotto, Fortress to Solitude, Famous Accounts, and re-installation by Austin Thomas of the apartment gallery that started it all, Norte Maar. The night also featuring the closing party for current show at Centotto and the celebration of the opening of a brand new space Curbs and Stoops (566 Johnson Ave). Don't miss the official after party at THE BODEGA (24 Saint Nicolas Ave) where DJ Scot Bowman will spin the town tunes and host Jason Andrew (aka Paddy Johnson’s muscled Cyborg) will take off his shirt at 11:30PM. Bushwick is the place to make art from the ghetto to the glamour. Artists have found solace in the supportive neighborhood made up of emerging and established artists, choreographers, writers, alternative spaces and reputable galleries. Putting the spit on the art world where community means more than commerce join Jason Andrew + Norte Maar for this event where the art is real and the people making it are to.
